Hillcrest Competition

We were just invited to compete at the Hillcrest competition on Saturday, November 3. Entrance fee is $10, but it helps support a high school where the student body have not been blessed with as many opportunities as we have available here at Lone Peak.

Looking for Stars

We're going to be hosting a "Dancing with the Community Stars" on Tuesday, December 11. We would like 10 "stars". Each star will be paired up with one of our students. I know there are some of you that may know/live near some "stars", so we are asking for your help to recruit them. Eyelashes

Kayti can't buy the eyelashes so you will need to purchase them yourselves. The brand is Ardell Invisibrand Lacies. You will need to also get eyelash glue. You can get them at Sallys. If you can't find them just buy long thick fake ones and kayti will order them online for us later.

Extra practice

We are doing a rehearsal tonight at 6:00 o clock at the school. We are going through the disco because we still have a long way to performance level for tomorrow.

Back to School Assembly

The ballroom team has been invited to perform during the Back to School assembly which will be held Friday, August 24. The Student Council are in charge of this assembly but they haven't told us what time it will be held so we are guessing around 9:00. Because there are so many students at our school and they all can't fit in the auditorium, there are 2 assemblies. Once the student council lets us know the times, we will post them.

All ballroom students need to be at the school on Friday, August 24 at 6:00 am. Girls should come in costume with makeup and hair done. Guys need to be in costume as well with their hair done.

It has been difficult contacting all of the ballroom students so everyone MUST contact Breanna with their contact information - even if you are sure she has your information (parent number, your number, your email, etc). She needs to know the best way to contact each of you. With 20+ ballroom students, she can not call each individual student to give them all of the information they need. In the future, she will only send a note/text/phone call letting you know to check this blog for information.

Girls - Here you see our lovely model Breanna posing with the fishnet stockings that you should be looking for. A good place to find them is The Glass Slipper in American Fork. Notice her sparkling earrings. WalMart is an inexpensive place to find these lovely accessories. If you can't find those exact earrings, anything really close to that should work.

Practice for Assembly

There will be a practice for the Back to School assembly. Meet at the school Thursday, August 16 at 11:00am in the small gym.

Girls - You will need the following items for the upcoming year:
Eye shadow: desert sunrise (Loreal)- a pink/brown/white pallet
Blush: deep rose (Maybelline)
Lipstick: hot red (wet & wild)
You also need to have black eye liner (a pencil AND liquid) and a brown pencil lip/eye liner, earrings- make sure they're the right kind, eye lashes (they're Ardell Invisibrand), hair nets, fish nets (caramel color), bra cups, eye lash glue, a nude leotard, and plenty of gel, hairspray, and bobby pins :p also if your hair's short you'll need a hair piece probably... Good luck finding it all!

Team Building

Don't forget our team building activity this Thursday, June 14. Meet at Lone Peak at 7:15 am. We will be leaving around 7:30 am. If you by chance sleep in that morning (with teenagers, it has been known to happen), find a ride and meet us out at Camp Williams. We should be home between noon and 1:00 pm. My car only holds 4 passengers so other drivers might be needed.

Opening Social

We will hold our first social for the 2012-2013 ballroom team this Thursday, May 31 at 4:30 pm. Contact team captains Jeffery or Breanna for the address. We will be playing some games and getting to know each other. Bring some munchies and plan on having fun!

Tuesday, June 12 - Ballroom Clinic
Meet in the LPHS small gym (the gym where tryouts and the parent meeting were held) at 9:00 am. We will be going over technique.

Thursday, June 14 - Team Building Retreat
Meet at the LPHS south parking lot. We will be leaving at 7:30 am and heading to Camp Williams where we will participate in team building exercises. We will need 4 parents to go with us (bring your camera so you can help take pictures). We will finish around noon and be home around 12:30.

Tuesday, June 19 - Ballroom Clinic
Meet in the LPHS small gym at 9:00 am. We will be going over technique.

End of Year Banquet

The end of year banquet will be held Saturday, May 26 at 2:00 pm. Parents and students of the 2011-2012 team are invited. We will be watching the slide show that Robin's mom has put together, seeing clips of David Moon's DVD, eating dinner, saying goodbye to the Seniors and going swimming - so bring your swimming suit. Talk to Kayti for the address.

Summer Dates

Thursday, June 14 at 7:30 am we will be meeting at the high school and going to Camp Williams where we will complete their Leadership Development course. Come dressed in jeans and sneakers and ready to climb, think and work together as a team.

Summer camp will be held for two weeks: July 30-August 4 and August 6-10 from 5:00 - 9:00 pm. Bring your dance shoes and get ready to learn our new routines.

There will be "mini" workshops held all summer for the whole team. Each week we will be working on a different dance. For the beginners this is a great chance to learn dances you have never done before, and for the more experienced dancers it is a good time to get your callouses ready for summer camp as well as help the new team members.

Ballroom Tryouts Posting Delayed

We're not trying to cause ulcers for all of you that tried out for the Ballroom team and are anxiously awaiting the results. Unfortunately the results won't be posted until Saturday. The good news is there is one more young man that will be trying out. This is good news because if he makes it, we will be able to have one more girl on the team (we generally have 4 more girls than the number of guys on the team).

Results will be posted on this website on Saturday, April 28.

Spring Concert

The Spring concert will be held Wednesday, May 2 and Thursday, May 3 at 7:00 pm in the LPHS auditorium. Admission is $5 for adults and $4 for students and senior citizens. Doors open at 6:30 pm.

Ballroom Tryouts

Tryouts for the 2012-2013 school year will be held Thursday, April 19 and Friday, April 20 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm in the Lone Peak small gym. Thursday girls need to have a dance shoe or a shoe with a heel. Boys need to be in church pants and have a dance shoe or church shoe. NO SNEAKERS!!!

Friday girls need to have their hair pulled back and out of their face. They need to wear a skirt (preferably black and one that does NOT go to the floor), a white shirt and a dance shoe. Guys need to be in church pants, white shirt and tie and have a dance shoe or church shoe.

Results will be posted on Friday, April 27. There will be a parent meeting the first of May for those that make the team to go over the details of the team and everything you need to know.
